Nursing (APRN / NP) Reports to: This position reports to their
Clinical Team Leader. Salary Pay: $55k - $60k (based on experience)
Job Type: Contract Job Description: The APRN/NP will initiate and
provide nursing and medical care for the patients. This critical
important position will provide various services to ensure overall
wellness and continuity of care to those whom the agency serve. The
APRN/NP will also provide an array of CORE or other Medicaid
services to individuals according to the most recent FY Medicaid
guidelines, policies and procedures, and NBT guidelines, policies
and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: RN and graduation from a
post-basic education program for Nurse Practitioners or Masters
Degree or higher in nursing for the CNS/PMH (Clinical Nurse
Specific/Psychiatric Mental Health) Current Georgia Licensure by
the Georgia Board of Nursing. First Aid/CPR Certified. Current and
active DEA Registration (if prescribing medication) Minimum of
1-year experience working with clientele suffering from MH/SA
issues and their families a plus. Maintain documentation of
completing 20 contact hours every 2 years from the Georgia Nursing
Board for approved continuing education courses. Currently being
supervised by a MD or Psychiatrist and listed with the Georgia
Medical Board. Duties Include: Provide evaluations and management
for new and ongoing patients. Provide psychotherapy plus evaluation
and management for new and ongoing patients. Educate patients on
psychotropic medication. Take verbal orders from MD (Doctor of
Medicine) or other superior nurse(s). Talk to patients about their
present problems, allergies, medications and keep an eye on their
medical records. Help coordinate patient referrals. Call pharmacies
for ordering prescriptions if necessary. Assessing and monitoring a
patients medical and other health issues that are either directly
related to the mental health or substance related disorder, or to
the treatment of the disorder (e.g. diabetes, cardiac and/or blood
pressure issues, substance withdrawal symptoms, weight gain and
fluid retention, seizures, etc.). Assessing and monitoring the
patients response to medication(s) to determine the need to
continue medication and/or to determine the need to refer the
patient to a physician for a medication review. Execute triage
within the scope of nursing practice in an accurate and precise
way. Provide nutritional assessments and perform nursing
assessments and examine their medical history. Consulting with
patients family/caregiver about medical, nutritional and other
health issues related to the individuals mental health or substance
related issues. Venipuncture required to monitor and assess mental
health, substance disorders or directly related conditions, and to
monitor side effects of psychotropic medications, as ordered by a
Licensed Physician or Physician Assistant. Providing assessment,
testing, and referral for infectious diseases. Supervise the RN and
LPN staff. Teamwork & Communication: Demonstrate cooperation.
Collaborating with other professionals. Be a productive member of
the staff. Communicate effectively, clearly, and appropriately and
ensure client care and clinician concerns are known. Use excellent
judgment. Prompt arrival to sessions/meetings is strongly
