Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide skilled nursing care in a specialized stepdown unit focused on geriatric patients recovering from surgery or acute illness. This role involves working within a hospital-based skilled nursing facility that serves as a critical transition point between high-tech hospitalization and home care, emphasizing restorative care to help patients regain independence. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to post-operative patients, including those recovering from hip, knee, and shoulder surgeries, as well as patients with pneumonia and congestive heart failure requiring rehabilitation. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including medicine, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to support patient recovery and function improvement. Perform nursing assessments, administer treatments, and manage physician orders accurately and efficiently. Participate actively in admissions and daily care planning under the guidance of the charge nurse. Maintain patient safety and adhere to unit policies, including dress code compliance (no false nails). Support the IV team while developing skills for independent IV management. Work flexible 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays. Desired Experience and Qualifications: Current RN license with experience in stepdown or similar acute care settings. Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system preferred. Ability to provide care at patient-to-nurse ratios of approximately 9-12. Experience with geriatric nursing and rehabilitation care. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Must possess an unexpired drivers license for consideration.
