1 year in Radiology, less than 1 year in CT preferred License: ARRT
Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support

ability to multitask Description: Must be flexible with work hours
to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and
cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to
patients by performing all exams according to procedures. Has the
knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality
diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of
technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and
initiative. Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and
positions patients for procedures. Core Responsibilities and
Essential Functions: Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and
assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established
procedures for the administration of contrast media to prevent
patient condition deterioration. Ensures all studies have proper
patient identification and that right and left markers are utilized
appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically
acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency
situations and assists in providing maintenance of life support
equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when
needed. Observes patient condition and properly evaluates
situations requiring physician intervention. Maintains patient
privacy and comfort, ensuring dignity throughout the
exam/procedure. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying
appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based
on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to
accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Follows physician instructions during procedures and exams.
Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power
injection. Uses critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on
ambiguous orders. Understands and completes pre-procedural
verification and Time Out process when appropriate. Demonstrates
and understands pre-and post-procedural care. Preps the patient for
procedures and maintains competency with venipuncture. Equipment:
Demonstrates ability to adjust technique to minimize ionizing
radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports malfunctioning
equipment to supervisor or service provider for timely correction.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection
control policies. Education and Communication: Patiently and
clearly explains the purpose and nature of the exam to minimize
anxiety and facilitate cooperation. Ensures that patient questions,
concerns, or contraindications are addressed satisfactorily.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental
employees. Provides preparatory instructions and explanations of
procedures to patients. Maintains concise and legible documentation
with precise terminology. Reads emails each day scheduled to work
and follows through with assignments. Completes all mandatory
education without prompting. Quality Control: Produces acceptable
images consistently as evidenced by feedback and quality audits.
Ensures equipment is operational by checking for proper calibration
and operating deficiencies. Sends all studies to PACS immediately
after completion and prints CDs as needed. Completes all studies in
RIS before completing in PACS. Operations: Restocks linens and
supplies, maintaining cleanliness and order within the department.
Transports and positions patients, assisting them on and off
procedure tables. Performs patient charging activities on the day
of service. Applies shielding, supportive, and immobilization
devices and equipment as needed. Shares knowledge and assistance
with others upon request to promote departmental efficiency.
Performs routine clerical and support duties to ensure continuity
and quality of services. Keeps supervisor informed on all
responsibilities and promptly notifies of potential problems.
Maintains individual productivity rate that is equal to co-workers.
Operates all workstations associated with the CT department.
Deposits images from the CT console to PACS. Maintains compliance
with all relevant standards and regulations. Takes on-call duties
when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with
all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Requirements
