Description Position open until 3/30/2026 Salary: $68,156.41 annually General Description and Classification Standards Assists an assigned department in carrying out the overall functions and day-to-day operations relating to community affairs and public relations. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising staff; providing administrative support; coordinating special events; developing outreach opportunities; attending meetings; and processing associated paperwork. Supervision Received Works under very general supervision. Depending on organization's structure, may work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Serves as liaison to business, professional, religious, community, and civic groups for continuous positive public relations. Reviews complaints, identifies trends, and discusses plans of correction. Administers the department’s budget by monitoring and tracking expenditures for personnel, operations, and equipment. Assists managers and supervisors in the development of appraisals and performance evaluations for personnel. Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information by telephone, in person, or by mail from citizens, city employees, and department heads. Speaks to community, civic, religious, business, and professional groups to provide information and positive public relations concerning activities and initiatives of the department. Uses independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations including preparing the annual budget and analyzing the department’s needs for future staffing. Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, handling all employee concerns, directing work assignments, counseling and disciplining employees when necessary, and completing employee performance appraisals. Writes quotes, manages vendors, builds vendor partnerships. Represents the airport at community galas and chamber meetings. May perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully, it is not an exhaustive list. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Community Affairs Manager and the terminology used within the department. Skill in effectively communicating and interacting with subordinates, supervisors and other staff members. Ability to perform duties under a moderate degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention to details and tight deadlines. Ability to read and comprehend management reports. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, public administration, or a related field (Additional years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the required degree on an exceptional basis; an Associate’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience may be considered) Three (3) years of experience in community-based interaction and program management or related environment that includes public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing. Licensures and Certifications None Required Preferred Requirements Project Management Certification, Event Planning Certification. Work Environment Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job.
